The 49-year-old Oscar-winning actress stars in Pablo LarraĆnās film āMaria,ā which depicts the final days of the renowned Greek-American opera singer Maria Callas, who suffered a fatal heart attack in 1977 at the age of 53.
To prepare for her role, Angelina dedicated herself to improving her vocal skills, undergoing seven months of intensive training. Her first lesson proved to be a challenge for the former wife of Brad Pitt, but afterward, she experienced a profound sense of relief.
āI walked into the room with the piano, and someone said, āOkay, letās see where you are.ā I became very emotional. I took a deep breath, made a sound, and started to cry. We often donāt realize how much we hold in our bodies and how it affects our voice and our ability to express ourselves. I had kept a lot inside for a long time, and when that sound finally came out, it was the best therapy Iāve ever had,ā Jolie explained.
She believes that many people should consider taking singing lessons before turning to therapy. The classes had a healing impact on her, allowing her to connect with her own voice. āIt helped me immensely. Finding your own voice within your body is primal. It brings up emotions you might not want to face,ā Angelina remarked.
Of course, opera singers spend years perfecting their voices and breath control, which proved difficult for the actress. Ultimately, she began to feel unwell. āBy the end of filming, when I was really singing as Callas, my head was spinning because I couldnāt fully control myself.ā
