King Charles is celebrating his 76th birthday today, following what many have described as a challenging year for the Royal Family.
Born on November 14, 1948, the monarch is preparing for a busy day full of engagements, sticking to his usual style of service to the country on his special day.
Charles will inaugurate the first two hubs of his *Coronation Food* initiative, launched last year to mark his legacy. The project aims to assist those in need by providing food while also addressing food waste by reducing surplus that would otherwise be discarded.
This milestone comes as the King continues his recovery from a type of cancer, which he was diagnosed with earlier this year. Charles took a brief hiatus for treatment but has since resumed his royal duties, including his first overseas tour with Queen Camilla last month to Australia and Samoa.
As the nation celebrates its sovereign. Today the King had a notable birthday eve, fulfilling two engagements on Wednesday. He first attended a Buckingham Palace reception to honor the UKβs film and television industry, before heading to the premiere of *Gladiator II*.
At the Palace, the King and Queen welcomed a variety of figures from the entertainment world, including directors, actors, TV presenters, stunt performers, and costume designers. Among the guests was Sir Ridley Scott, director of the *Gladiator* sequel.
The reception also commemorated the centenary of the Film and TV Charity, of which King Charles has been patron, following in the footsteps of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who held the position from 1952.
