The son took his father to a nursing home and only after the old man died did he realize what a stupid mistake he had made

The son persuaded his father to sell his house and lend him the money, promising to take care of him. But this care did not last long. A year later, the son said that his father needed to move to a nursing home.

The old man did not argue. He knew: his son had already decided everything. That same day he was taken to a nursing home.

Six months later, the old man passed away. The ungrateful son went to see a lawyer to find out about his father’s inheritance. But, as it turned out, his late father had prepared a real surprise for him.

The son realized what a mistake he had made, but it was too late.

We tell you what the smart old man did

Once, many years ago, the father sold his house to help his son. Victor did not have enough money to buy an apartment, and then he himself proposed this option to his father:

– What do you need that house for? You’re alone there anyway. And we have a family here, children. You’ll live with us, you won’t be bored.

The father hesitated for a long time. But in the end he agreed – for the sake of his son.

At first, everything was going well. However, over time, something changed. Victor became distant, his wife began to get irritated over trifles, his granddaughter looked at her grandfather as if he was not a family member at all, but a random person.

Gradually the old man realized that he had become superfluous. He was given a small corner of the room, and he tried not to be seen by anyone, so as not to cause another wave of discontent.

One day Victor announced:

– Dad, we have an important event. Our daughter is getting married. And you know… you need to move. We found a good nursing home with caring staff. And the young people will live here for a while. Well, think about it, there won’t be a room for all of us.

– Victor… I sold the house for you. I gave everything I had because I believed that you would take care of me, like I took care of you. It hurt me to leave that house. But I did it for you. And now you’re just sending me away?

– Dad, don’t be dramatic. We’ll come, you won’t be alone.

The old man did not argue. He knew: his son had already decided everything. That same day he was taken to a nursing home.

At first he was sad, didn’t eat, didn’t talk. But over time he got used to it. There was one young girl in the house, a nurse, who looked after him with sincere warmth. She didn’t say any routine phrases, didn’t look at him with pity. She was just there.

Six months later the old man was gone. Victor never came back.

When he was called to the lawyer, he expected to hear about the inheritance. But his name was not in the will. Everything that his father had saved all his life – a million rubles – was given to that same girl.

The lawyer handed Victor a note:

“I just wanted to live out my years in peace. And you betrayed me. I left this money to the one who was there when I suffered. To the one who showed humanity. Goodbye.”

Victor read these words over and over again. And only now did he realize that he had lost more than just an inheritance. He had lost the person closest to him. But it was too late.
