Leonardo DiCaprio found himself in an awkward situation after ignoring a traditional welcome ceremony in Fiji. This week, the actor was staying at a hotel in Nadi, but locals felt he acted disrespectfully when leaving the hotel. In a video shared on social media, the 50-year-old Hollywood star was seen exiting the hotel while the staff had gathered to perform a traditional farewell serenade. DiCaprio appeared to be on a phone call as he quickly left the lobby, bypassing the staff who were waiting to greet him in the customary manner. The *Titanic* star likely noticed the ceremony but quickly lowered his head and rushed past the crowd to his awaiting car.
Many fans criticized DiCaprio for not acknowledging the people singing for him, with some calling his behavior “disrespectful.”
“Leonardo, you should have shown gratitude to the welcoming people of Fiji,” one follower commented.
“Don’t waste your energy, people of Fiji, he’s so disrespectful,” wrote another.
“At least he should have accepted the hospitality of our country. There’s no place like Fiji,” a third agreed.
Some even accused DiCaprio of faking the phone call, while others defended him, suggesting he may have been unfamiliar with the island customs.
“Staff should understand that A-list celebrities hate this kind of public attention,” wrote one fan in his defense.
