52-year-old Cameron Diaz recently shared in an interview that the secret to her successful 9-year marriage to Benji Madden is therapy. The Hollywood blonde married the 45-year-old rocker from the band Good Charlotte in 2015. Recently, Cameron appeared on the “Artist Friendly” podcast with her husband’s brother, Joel Madden, and gave a rare interview about their relationship.
“It’s something we rely on, so we commit to work on ourselves and our relationship. Therapy keeps Benji and me in check, protecting us from mistakes. It helps us either resolve something or create a new understanding of a new process together,” she said.
Joel, who is Benji’s twin brother, has been married to 43-year-old Nicole Richie since 2010. He also shared his views on therapy, comparing it to “going to the gym and learning new movements, building strength.”
The Charlie’s Angels star and the musician tied the knot in 2015 in a romantic ceremony at Diaz’s Beverly Hills home. In late 2019, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Raddix, via a surrogate. She will turn 5 years old on December 30. In March this year, the couple announced the birth of their second child — a son named Cardinal. Shortly after the announcement, a source told People that Diaz feels “incredibly happy” about the birth of their second child.
“They always hoped for a second baby because they love being parents,” an insider told the publication. “For many years, Cameron wanted to become a mom. She feels incredibly happy now that she has two children.”
