Ben Affleck described his divorce from Jennifer Lopez as “drama-free” and insisted that if people heard the real story of his life, they’d find it “boring.” In a candid interview for GQ’s April 2025 cover story, Affleck addressed his high-profile split, denying that Lopez’s “Greatest Love Story Never Told” documentary created any major rift between them.
The 52-year-old actor acknowledged that he is more private than Lopez and that they didn’t always see eye-to-eye when it came to public life. However, he participated in the 2024 documentary to support Lopez. He pointed out that watching the film wouldn’t explain their relationship issues, noting, “You’ve got to own what you knew going into any relationship.”

Affleck also spoke highly of Lopez, stating he has “nothing but respect” for her and doesn’t want people to think that the divide between their public and private lives caused negativity or judgment. He stressed that their breakup wasn’t filled with scandal or drama, but rather a natural part of trying to navigate life and relationships.

He explained that their separation didn’t have a specific cause, but was more of a “couple’s therapy session” where both individuals were working through their own issues. Affleck avoided giving details about the split, calling it too “embarrassing” and “vulnerable.”

The actor also touched on his relationship with ex-wife Jennifer Garner and discussed his FBI visit in January. Affleck and Lopez first dated in the early 2000s, got back together in 2021, and married twice—once in Las Vegas and again in Georgia.
Lopez, in her first public comments on the divorce, expressed excitement about her single life, telling Interview magazine in October 2024, “What can I do when it’s just me flying on my own?”
