Hollywood veteran settles in Madrid with his wife and children. Richard Gere and his wife Alejandra graced the cover of Spanish Elle and shared their experience of moving to Europe with their two sons — five-year-old Alexander and four-year-old James, as well as 11-year-old Albert, Alejandra’s son from a previous marriage.

At the beginning of their romance, the couple was concerned about the 33-year age gap and the distance between them. Alejandra lived with Gere in the U.S., but she longed to return to her homeland. Now, the couple has found harmony. “This is our impulse. We are happier than ever. Alejandra is happy because she’s home, and I’m happy because when my wife is happy, I’m happy too,” Richard said.

The couple married in 2018 after a three-year romance. Alejandra, the Spanish writer, assured that she doesn’t feel any age difference with her husband. “We are like soulmates. We share the same values, see the world the same way, and from the very first moment, it felt like we had known each other forever. That only happens once, if it ever happens at all. Our past lives’ karma brought us together,” said Silva.

Richard, a Golden Globe winner, has a 24-year-old son, Homer, from his marriage to actress and model Carey Lowell. Later in life, fatherhood became a gift for the actor, known for his role in the iconic film Pretty Woman. “Richard is a devoted and caring father. He loves reading stories to the kids. It may sound like an idyllic picture, but it’s true. He’s a great father. He doesn’t cook. I do the cooking, but when I do, he plays the guitar. One of the things that brings us together and made us fall in love with each other is our hearts full of enthusiasm,” Alejandra added.

For many years, Richard has practiced Buddhism and deeply values the role of women in shaping the future. “The new world will be built by women and thanks to women. The Dalai Lama once told me that he inherited compassion and kindness not from his father, but from his mother. Women are extremely strong together. If you give money to a woman, she will invest it and use it for the good of society, improving life for everyone,” he said.

In November, the couple made their first public appearance after moving to Spain. They walked the red carpet at the Elle for Future Awards ceremony in Madrid. Richard spent Thanksgiving with his family in their new home in the European capital. Last year, he sold his Connecticut ranch for $10.75 million. He also owned a property in the popular Pound Ridge neighborhood in New York, about an hour’s drive from Manhattan, which he sold in 2022 for $28 million.
