What Makes Olivia Benson, Taylor Swift’s Cat, Worth $97 Million? Here’s How

The cat is nearly as wealthy as the actual Olivia Benson and is said to be the third wealthiest pet in the world.

Taylor Swift is wealthier than most of us will ever be, and it seems that she shares that riches with her pets, or at least one of them. AllAboutCats.com, which compiled a Forbes-style list of the world’s wealthiest pets using data that evaluated each creature’s net worth through Instagram posts, hereditary earnings, and other documented financial pursuits, claims that Swift’s cat Olivia Benson is the third richest pet in the world.

According to reports, the cat, named after Mariska Hargitay’s character from Law and Order: SVU, is worth an incredible $97 million, yet it still pales in comparison to her owner’s $570 million fortune. Remarkably, the cat is nearly as wealthy as Hargitay, who Parade claims has a net worth of $100 million. The cat has accumulated her fortune through other means because, unlike many of the pets on the list, Swift does not have an Instagram page for Olivia or any of her cats, who very sometimes appear on her social media accounts.

Rather, Swift’s music videos, such as “Blank Space,” and “cameos in many big-budget ads, including for the likes of Diet Coke and Ned Sneakers,” are the sources of the Scottish Fold cat’s wealth. Olivia has reportedly benefited from the singer’s earlier sales of products on her internet store that featured her kitties.

Olivia is ranked second among wealthy cats, behind Nala Cat, who is said to be worth $100 million and holds the Guinness World Record for having the most Instagram followers. However, a dog has beaten both cats out, much to their probably disgusting dismay. With a net worth that nearly equals Swift’s, German shepherd Gunther VI is said to be the richest pet in the world. The German Countess Karlotta Leibenstein, the dog’s owner, left his grandpa Gunther III a $80 million inheritance. The Gunther Corporation’s investments have increased the dog’s net worth to $500 million (yep, the dog has his own estate).

Swift’s other two cats, Benjamin Button (inspired by Brad Pitt’s movie) and Meredith Grey (named after the Grey’s Anatomy character), are not listed, so their net worths are unknown. But since Meredith is infamously reluctant to do, well, anything, and Swift only adopted Benjamin in 2019 after he appeared in her music video for “ME!” it’s possible that Olivia is the wealthiest cat in her family
