Dwayne Johnson Still Leaves Out Oats and Carrots for Reindeer at Christmas for His ‘Little Ones’

Dwayne Johnson will never skip out on this Christmas tradition with his two younger daughters.

The actor, 52, chatted with PEOPLE ahead of the release of his new Christmas movie Red One, out now, where he opened up about his own family Christmas traditions. Johnson is a dad to daughters Simone, 23, whom he shares with ex-wife Dany Garcia, and Jasmine, 8, and Tiana, 6, with Lauren Hashian. He tells PEOPLE that the best part of the holiday season is “just getting the family together.”

He sweetly adds, “We got little ones at home. Santa’s coming. That’s exciting,” before sharing his favorite tradition to do with Jasmine and Tiana on Christmas Eve.

“What we have started doing is we stay up late on Christmas Eve, not too late,” he begins, adding that “the kids can’t sleep” because they’re too excited. “It’s tough to try and force them to bed when they can’t, like, all right, let’s stay up.”

While they’re up and awaiting Santa’s arrival, “We’ll watch a Christmas movie and then they’ll pass out and then we will all get ready for Santa,” Johnson explains. “And that’s the exciting part, man. So fun.”

“What we’ll do is we’ll leave out the cookies that they made and their notes and you also got to leave out the oats and the carrots and things like that for all the reindeer as they coming,” he says, noting that the fun doesn’t stop there.

“It’s crazy because in the morning — when you guys have kids, it was like when you were a kid. The reindeer, they eat all the food,” he excitedly shares, alluding to the fact that he gets to indulge in the cookies and carrots. “It’s amazing, man.”

Earlier this week, the proud dad told E! News about his experience bringing Jasmine and Tiana on the set of Moana 2 to voice two characters and what it was like to see their reactions when they heard their cameo for the first time in theaters.

“They loved it,” he told the outlet. “Loved, loved it. They hadn’t seen it before. They knew they were in it, and they were sitting on the edge of their seats, literally, and just waiting.”

Their sweet reaction was well worth the wait, Johnson noted. “Their scene came up, and they’re just like, ‘That’s me!’ ” he recalled. “It was so cool.”

“That’s the good stuff of fame,” he added, joking, “And nepotism.”
