Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence presented her documentary *Bread and Roses* at an event held at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. For the red carpet, the 34-year-old actress chose a striking *total black* look, wearing a gothic satin dress with thin straps, featuring a beaded flower on the chest, open shoulders, and draping at the waist. The floor-length dress highlighted Lawrence’s growing baby bump, which she gently cradled with her hands. She completed the look with a pair of black heeled sandals.
The Oscar winner kept her accessories minimal, opting for silver earrings in different designs and a bold statement ring. Her makeup was glamorous, with smoky brown eyeshadow, blended black eyeliner, and a nude lip gloss. Her cheeks had a soft flush, and her cheekbones were accentuated with bronzing powder. The actress’s blonde hair cascaded down her back in loose waves, with her bangs swept behind her ears.
Lawrence produced the documentary through her production company, *Excellent Cadaver*, which she founded in 2018. Her producing partner was close friend Justin Chiarochi. *Bread and Roses*, directed by Afghan filmmaker Sahra Mani, tells the story of Afghan women living under the Taliban after they took control of Kabul in August 2021. The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May of the previous year. Jennifer explained, “I was watching the news about the fall of Kabul in 2021 and said to Justin, ‘You know, we need to find someone on the ground who can bring a camera there.’”
Chiarochi suggested Mani take the lead on the project after watching her 2018 documentary *A Thousand Like Me*, which tells the story of an Afghan woman fighting for justice after years of sexual abuse by her father.
“Sahra’s documentary was simply incredible and moving. And I think her perspective, not to mention her cinematographic abilities, is remarkable. This film was born out of necessity, emotional necessity,” Lawrence shared.
Recently, a representative for the actress confirmed that she is expecting her second child with her husband, art dealer and gallery owner Cooke Maroney. The couple married in October 2019 after a year of dating and are already parents to two-year-old son, Cy. At the end of October, Jennifer made her first public appearance since news of her pregnancy, attending the premiere of the documentary *Zubrowski v. Texas*, a film about abortion rights, which she co-produced with Hillary Clinton.
