Duchess of Wales, Kate Middleton, revealed that she was able to avoid the procedure typically used to help cancer patients prevent hair loss during treatment. However, she still managed to keep her hair.
The 43-year-old actress shared her cancer journey, explaining that she βdidnβt have toβ undergo the cold cap therapy during chemotherapy. Instead, doctors offered her an alternative method, though she did not disclose what it was.
Some patients choose to wear a cold cap during chemotherapy, as its cooling effect reduces blood flow to the scalp, potentially limiting the amount of chemotherapy drugs that reach the hair follicles and thus helping to prevent hair loss. Some patients, however, may experience pain or discomfort while wearing the cap.
A few days after Kate announced that she is now in remission, she visited the hospital where she had received her cancer treatment. βI am truly grateful to everyone who quietly stood by William and me as we went through all of this,β she emphasized.
